Jetstar Japan Review 2025: What You Need to Know

Last week, my husband and I flew to Japan for our honeymoon. During our trip, we visited Tokyo and Hokkaido. To get to Hokkaido, we flew from Narita International Airport to New Chitose Airport with Jetstar Japan. It was actually our first time flying with this airline.

About Jetstar Japan

Jetstar Japan is a budget airline based in Japan. It started in 2012 as a partnership between Jetstar Airways (an Australian budget airline), Japan Airlines (JAL), and the Mitsui Group. Jetstar Japan offers both domestic and international flights, mainly within Asia.

A321 Neo flight from New Chitose Airport to Narita Airport.

How was flying with Jetstar Japan?

Although it's a low-cost carrier (LCC), the seat was quite spacious. In addition to the regular airplane tray table, it also has a device holder on top, which makes it convenient for charging your phone or watching movies on your cell phone (a smart idea).

What’s more?

This airline is quite strict when it comes to luggage weight. At the boarding gate, before you can board the aircraft, a group of staff will weigh your hand-carry bags. They strictly enforce the 7kg limit, and if your bag exceeds that weight, you’ll have to pay an additional fee.

I actually saw some fellow travelers who had to pay 5,000 yen after the staff weighed and checked their hand-carry bags, which exceeded the 7kg limit.

Note: As a couple who loves traveling, we always make sure to have a portable scale with us to check both our checked and hand-carry luggage. So, I’d recommend that you guys get one too to avoid excess baggage.

The photo on the left shows the situation where staff are checking carry-on baggage.
After checking, they’ll put a sticker on your bag, just like mine on the left.

Note: Small bags are also checked.

Additionally, their self-check-in and self-bag drop service is very efficient. Plus, their staff are very kind on board. My husband and I flew from New Chitose Airport to Narita Airport on the night of Valentine’s Day, and they gave us a Valentine’s treat.

The Self-Bag Drop and Self-Check-in Area.

Note: As a low-cost carrier (LCC), the airline does not offer a free
checked baggage allowance. Therefore, my husband and I purchased
a 20kg baggage allowance for each of us prior to the trip.

The Valentine's Candy Treat from Jetstar Japan and the freebies
we received: two boxes of KitKat chocolates and two bottles of
green tea (one for me and one for my husband). Thank you Jetstar!

How's their food?

Just like with any other low-cost carrier (LCC), there are no free meals. However, my husband ordered meals for both of us in advance (thank you so much, hubs). So far, the food has been good.

Would I recommend flying with Jetstar Japan?

Definitely! This airline offers good services for an LCC. Plus, during our flight, we didn’t experience any delays or canceled flights. It was on time (I guess it's one of the most important things when flying with an airline).

Note: Sometimes, flights to Hokkaido are delayed or canceled due to heavy snowstorms.

Scoot Airlines Review

As per writing this, we (my partner and our siblings) just came back from Singapore and I'm very excited to share my Scoot experience with you all, as this is our first time flying with this airline.

Scoot Airline from afar at Mactan-Cebu International Airport

About Scoot Airline

According to WikipediaScoot Pte Ltd, operating as Scoot, is a Singaporean low-cost airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. It began its operations on 4 June 2012 on medium and long-haul routes from Singapore, predominantly to various airports throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Scoot Airline: Airbus a321neo

How is it flying with Scoot?

Flying with Scoot is great. It's like flying with Singapore Airlines in a yellow-themed plane minus the food, baggage allowance, footrest, pillow, IFE (in-flight entertainment), and earphones. Overall, Scoot's service is unequivocally awesome (same as its parent company).

• Good service

• Comfortable seats for a low-cost airline

(Quite Spacious and Enough Legroom. I am 5'6 tall and legroom space is very important for me, especially for long flights.)

• Friendly, kind, and accommodating staff
(When I say "friendly, kind, and accommodating staff" it started from the check-in counter down to their cabin crew. Even their Pilots are very friendly too)

• Lastly, no delays and no canceled flights
(this may vary but based on the standing it rarely happens)

Scoot Airline's Menu

Is it worth it to fly with Scoot?

Definitely yes! I highly recommend it. If you're on a budget but still want to fly with a good low-cost airline, then Scoot is the answer.

Honest Review On Cathay Pacific Airways

Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., Cathay Pacific A350-900

Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., Cathay Pacific or most commonly known as Cathay is one of the five (5) star airlines whose main office is located in Hong Kong.  Best known for being the world's tenth-largest airline measured by sales, and the fourteenth largest measured by market capitalization according to Wikipedia.

In light of this, having in-flight entertainment, good food, and a large baggage-free allowance is no longer a special service for World's Top 10 best airlines. Now, I'm pleased to share with you guys our Cathay Pacific Airways experience.

Cheers!!! We achieved another Miles Card! Asia Miles. (January 2020)

1. DELECTABLE FOOD. In place of the statement above, what makes Cathay Pacific's food special? Well, they give their passengers the best food choices an airline could offer with their Braised chicken thigh, Pastaetc. Also, all hail for their Häagen-Dazs ice cream as a dessert (to and fro on our flight). Amazing isn't it? Yes!!!

2. A LOVELY SEAT FOR ECONOMY CLASS. We flew in with their new plane Airbus 350. I/We could say that their plane is quieter (because it's new) plus a wider seat for economy class. However, there's no small pillow. Probably because our flight is just more or less three (3) hours - from Cebu to Hongkong and also, there is no footrest.

3. IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT (IFE). Their in-flight movies, games, and music are enough for a short flight with big responsive touch TV screens. Also, they offer their passengers' complimentary headphones. Notwithstanding, their A330 plane has no button to adjust the volume.

"Cathay Pacific A330"
It seems everyone on the flight is busy watching a movie. Hehe

Lastly, Cathay Pacific is truly one of the amazing airlines. Worth flying with and worth its recognition as one of the World's Top 10 best airlines (see https://skytraxratings.com/ for more info).

Five Reasons To Fly With Singapore Airlines

Flying with one of the best airlines in the world feels awesome. My first and definitely not the last experience is incredibly great. Full-Service Experience. Lovely and accommodating crews. Great seat even for economy class. No wonder why Singapore Airlines always rank as one of the best airlines in the world.

Here are a few reasons why you should fly with Singapore Airlines:

Singapore Airlines, Boeing 787-10
“Great things never came from comfort zones.”

1. FULL-SERVICE EXPERIENCE. Excellent in-flight entertainment(IFE), unlimited drinks, free ice cream, delectable food and not to mention their freebie earphones (regardless of its quality) feel like heaven. Also, the large baggage allowance is absolutely a plus. (I know it's not special for those who always fly with five-star airlines but please bear with the first-timer. Hehe)

Singapore Airlines Meal for Economy Class
(Isn't it appetizing? This is sooo good.)

(This is sooo delicious too.)

Singapore Airlines complimentary ice cream on board

(Shoutout to their very accommodating flight attendants, and a huge
thank you to the flight attendant who gave me an additional
chocolate-coated vanilla ice cream (see the picture on the right). So happy!)

2. LOVELY AND ACCOMMODATING CREWS. Their crews are giving their 100% service to their passengers. Pampering and making sure that everyone has adorable experience in flight. Also, one thing I like about their crews is they always show their warm smiles no matter how exhausting their job is (because we know already how tiring it is to work in a five-star airline, giving full service and all).

After roaming around Singapore (having flown from
Manila to Singapore), we also flew with
Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Malaysia.

3. GREAT SEAT EVEN FOR ECONOMY CLASS. (Note: We flew in the brand new BOEING 787) It has dimmable windows, an orderly seat and a spacious seat for the passengers.

I can tell the difference in the New Boeing 787 because on our flight we took Singapore Airlines to-and-fro. Coming back from Singapore we took Boeing 777-300.

Actually, I never expected that my seat is nice knowing that I just have an economy seat yet when I get on the plane. I was really amazed. The seat is so comfortable and it has even a small pillow. Also, there is a footrest. Enough for you to relax on your long flight journey.

4. QUICK CHECK-IN SERVICE. Everyone loves convenience, especially when traveling. Well, unlike other airlines, Singapore Airlines' check-in service is fast. They even have self-check-in service at Changi Airport Singapore which makes it hassle-free for the passengers. Easy and Convenient.

5. ON-TIME PERFORMANCE DEPARTURETheir departure performance is always excellent, never delayed.  Based on our experience, since we flew with Singapore Airlines to-and-fro. They always make it on time to send their passengers to their destination with convenience.

You can even refer to this site for more information about their flight's performance.
