" I also learn this mathematical equation in teaching, which is 2 + 2 = 4 meaning, to (2) teach is to (2) touch lives (4) forever. "
Just Wow! A week ago I was interviewed to be one of the chosen few Featured Teachers at work (in QQ English). Just a short introduction for those who don't know me yet I work as an English Teacher at an ESL (English as a Second Language) school or formally known as English as a Foreign Language (ELT).
QQ English is a Japanese owned ESL school located at IT Park. It has two campuses. The other one is located at Mactan, QQ English Seafront Campus.
Just a portion during the interview:
1. Question: Why did you choose to become a teacher?
Answer: To be candid I didn't picture myself becoming a teacher, it's my mom's idea to become a teacher because personally when I was young I thought of becoming a military nurse, but due to some reasons my mom told me that becoming a teacher is a very good profession and it even suits me so when I was in my university I took up a degree which is Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English. So when I am already in the field, I started to develop the love of teaching and I started to have that passion to teach. I also learn this mathematical equation in teaching, which is 2 + 2 = 4 meaning, to (2) teach is to (2) touch lives (4) forever.
2. Question: As a teacher what tips could you give to the students to learn the English language faster?
Answer: Constant practice, be patient, and make use of the language more often because according to the teaching approach named CALLA or Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach, it's possible that students are conversationally fluent in two years yet it takes five or seven years more to be considered as fluent in the academic language.
3. Question: If you are not a teacher now, what do you think will be your profession?
Answer: I think, maybe a beauty queen (laugh), because I ever dreamt of becoming a beauty queen, when I was young I dreamt of having the title as Miss LANAO DEL NORTE because I am from there, in the Land of Beauty and Bounty, but unfortunately I was not supported by my mom because she told me that becoming a beauty queen is totally different from the real world, so that's why she insisted that becoming a teacher is the best profession that I should have. Indeed, it's true that "mother knows best".
4. Question: If you are the answer what will be the question?
Answer: It's from the song "I won't give up" by Jason Marz the line says "How old is your soul?". It reminds me of my fearlessness dealing with life's never-ending battles day by day.
Also, we had "Fast Talk".

According to William Pollard a physicist and an Episcopal priest "Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable." I'm happy for this wonderful opportunity. It's such a great privilege.
