Delicious and Budget-Friendly Eats in Kuala Lumpur

According to Guy Ramsay Fieri or a.k.a "Guy Fieri" an American restaurateur, author, game show host, and Emmy Award-winning television personality that "Food is not just eating energy. It's an experience." Well, I couldn't agree more. Every food in every country is no alike. It symbolizes culture and tradition.

Let me share some of the palatable and inexpensive food we tried in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia :

1. Putu Bambu Tradisi. It is an Indonesian-Malay "cake-like" sweet dessert cooked in bamboo tubes and served with grated coconut. Made of rice, tapioca flour, palm sugar, coconut, and "pandan" flavor.

Putu Bambu Tradisi — RM 3.50 per pack

It is very delicious and it can be found in Chinatown close to Masjid Jamek Station.

2. Claypot Chicken Rice. This food was featured by one of the famous food vlogger named Mike Chen and can be found at Kedai Kopi Pudu Satu Enam Lapan 168.

Claypot Chicken — RM 20.00

It has some ham, pork, chicken and liver.

Note: Mix well before eating and while it's still hot for better taste.
Also, to avoid scorching the bottom part.

The food shop is nameless yet it's easy to find. It is just a five-minute walk away from the Pudu Station, across the Maybank.

3. Mee Goreng / Mie GorengIt is a spicy-fried noodle dish with some meat in it.

Mie Goreng — RM 7.50

Somehow like a very spicy version of spaghetti

The food store is easy to find. It's at the food court in Chinatown near Masjid Jamek Station.

4. Nasi Goreng AyamFried rice with pieces of meat and vegetable. Just like Mee Goreng / Mie Goreng, this food is also spicy and can be found in the food court of Chinatown near Masjid Jamek Station too. (the same store where I ordered the Mee Goreng / Mie Goreng)

Nasi Goreng Ayam — RM 8.00

It has one-piece chicken and sunny-side-up egg perfect to balance the spiciness.

5. Pandan BreadThis bread is very unique and tasty for its Pandan flavoring with Pandan filling. It is available at the 7/11 convenience store.

Pandan Bread — RM 1.85

7. TealiveIs one of the most famous Milk Tea/ Bubble Tea in Malaysia. It's like Chatime. This Milk Tea/ Bubble Tea is even available in some 7/11 stores.

Tealive — RM 5.50

8. Chicken BiryaniThey say "once tasted, always wanted". I agree! Because the day after I tasted Biryani in Little India Singapore (click here to read my Singapore blog), I crave Biryani and been wanting to eat it again. Fortunately, we found the perfect restaurant.

It's an Indian restaurant across the KL Sentral. The name of the restaurant is ABC Bistro Cafe.

RM 16. 85
This price is plus Fanta drink.

For the love of Biryani!! The first Biryani for this trip (Lunch Time)

RM 17. 90

This price is plus Fanta drink and some add-ons of salad. (see on the side)

The second Biryani for this trip. (Dinner Time) Uhmmm haha

Note:  For those people who can't tolerate spicy food, I won't Chicken Biryani, Mee Goreng / Mie Goreng and the Nasi Goreng Ayam.

In brief, the essence of traveling wouldn't be complete without trying out the local dishes. Thus, it's like a doorway to discovering one's culture.

Good Food, Good times, Perfect travel.
